Description
This is a patented calf weaner from 1886 invented by M. J. Ahlgrim. It was used on the calf’s head to discourage the mother cow from letting the calf nurse. With those spikes, it looks effective. This is a rusty metal artifact with a leather strap that has been repaired with bailing wire (how totally Western!) Cool, unusual vintage item sure to be a conversation starter. It appears to have been squashed in the barn, could use straightening out on one side.
